Online Dance Conditioning and Technique

Prerequisite: None

This open level class will focus on working and conditioning your body for dance, as well as learning the technique and body placement used in ballet and other dance forms! You'll get your heart rate up as you learn combinations and barre exercises designed to work your core, strengthen muscles, and increase your flexibility/stamina, all while upping your dance game (with or without an apparatus!). A yoga mat or other non-slip towel is recommended, as well as the use of the back of a sturdy chair, couch, wall, or portable barre. Shoes are not required, but some may find wearing ballet slippers or socks to be helpful with pointing and brushing motions. If you have a hardwood or tile floor, bare feet or other shoes with a non-slip sole, such as tennis shoes, may work best. No previous dance experience required!

  • A few feet of open wall space
  • Chair (about knee height)

Need a break from constant gains? Bend & Rest is a chill take on Bend & Flex. Promote rest and recovery by focusing on restorative stretching -- stretch one part of the body (hips, back, legs, shoulders), and release tension everywhere else. Learn to approach movement intentionally and meditatively.

Discussion-based Classes

Online Body Image 101

Prerequisite: None

This is a discussion-based class where we'll have equal time to discuss, process, and sit with how we feel about our bodies in this unique and challenging moment. We will also spend some time cultivating tools to combat negative self-talk and help cultivate a sense of self from a place of body neutrality.

We will discuss topics such as dealing with diet talk, forced hiatus from pleasurable movement, and the potential feelings of loss that have come with it. This class will be a space to cultivate a community of people who can have supportive discussions as we process our feelings about our bodies. Liana will utilize her experience facilitating critical discussion and draw on her lived experience as a fat person with an eating disorder to assist in facilitation. This group is a place to co-create and co-support, but is not licensed group therapy. People of all sizes and gender identities are welcome - if you have a body and want to talk about it, we're here for you!

The Self Care Prescription (series offering, separate pass required)

Prerequisite: None

Have you been wondering what all the buzz around self-care is about? Join Robyn, author of The Self-Care Prescription, as she leads you on a 6-week journey of quieting the outside noise, making space for rest, connecting with your intuition, and unapologetically tending to your own needs. The Self-Care Prescription: A 6-Week Series is a 6-part live workshop for folx who are overwhelmed, burnt-out, and ready to give themselves the care they so freely give others. This series is about more than bubble baths and pedicures. Together, we will explore REAL self-care—the kind that nurtures the mind, body, and soul. We will investigate six domains of self-care: emotional, physical, social, mental, spiritual, and vocational.

During this guided 6-week journey, participants will receive tools for reconnecting with themselves, identifying their needs, and practicing self-care in sustainable ways. This live online course will feature weekly mindfulness, poetry, gentle movement, and self-reflection, with special emphasis on listening to your inner wisdom. In addition to live engagement with Robyn, you will have the opportunity to thrive in community with other like-minded folx who are committed to leveling up their self-care. Each participant will be mailed a self-care package curated specifically for this class, which will be used to support them on their journey to enhanced self-care.

All classes are live through Zoom. You may use your computer, tablet, or phone. Attending all six sessions live will help you get the most out of this series. In the unfortunate circumstance that you miss one of the live events, a recording will be emailed to you.

In-Studio Class Descriptions

Due to COVID-19, our drop in schedule may change throughout the semester.
Thank you for your patience as our drop-in schedule adjusts to the new needs of students and staff at this time.

You may print and bring with you before your first in-studio class, or copies are available at the studio.

All in-studio classes require masks. We recommend bringing multiple in case of sweating through your mask, which decreases their effectiveness.
